About Centre for Child Protection
In the present era of ‘anger’, child protection is one of the necessities for keeping civilizations humane. Sardar Patel University of Police, Security & Criminal Justice (SPUP), Jodhpur (Rajasthan) imparts quality education with specialization to the students, from various parts of the country, interested in internalising academic and applied issues of ‘Internal’ and ‘External’ security as well as its relations with patterns of formal and informal social systems. ‘SPUP’ is also committed to provide deep analytical understanding about ‘safe’ and ‘dignified’ life of various social categories like women and children.
For exploring this deep understanding ‘SPUP’ has established various centres so that respective issues of social categories could be addressed academically through activities of ‘teaching’, ‘research’ and ‘extension’. In the year 2015, SPUP established ‘Centre for Child Protection with the vision that child, everywhere, must be accepted as a subject of right rather than as capital and / or as an asset.
The centre, within the span of four years has developed its image internationally because of the following activities:
(i) To examine the socio-cultural world of children
(ii) To evaluate the category of child in terms of heterogeneity
(iii) To analyse the cognitive world of Indian children
(iv) To assess the systems and sub-systems of protection of children from formal and informal threats as well as visible and invisible threats
(v) To interpret various legal provisions associated with child’s protection and
(vi) To make academic efforts for formation of democratic and just Indian society in which child could act freely and fearlessly with the attributes of creativity
To achieve the above mentioned objectives, CCP, with the meaningful partnership with various child rights actors, organises research activities, capacity building programmes, academic programmes and actional roles. CCP also tries to develop trained and skilled human resources so that efforts for protecting child could move towards the desired direction. Our far-sighted objective is to convert CCP into a ‘centre for eminence’ so that we could communicate and spread the values of tolerance, peace and non-violence without which child protection can not become a reality.
